Toob Snow

My final year project, is a concept in progress. Stage 1 is shown below.

The Final Concept

A concept aimed at Freestyle Snowboarders with limited access to the mountains, and snowdomes throughout the UK and Europe, aiming to improve their progression in Jibbing.

PART 1

What is Jibbing

Where a user is sliding on man made features, be it a rail, box or anything in between.

How big is the Market

Tutorials on different balance methods on Youtube get between 20,000 and a 1,000,000 views dependent on the method.

The Problem

Key Insights From Initial Research

The Initial Process

The 3 Initial Concepts

Throughout the entirety of the design process, I engaged in iterative exploration, evaluating various approaches to address the problem. Consequently, I have formulated several distinct solutions. Presented here are the three primary concepts I have developed.

Further Development Exploration

Exploration into how certain areas could work through primary research was key to the success of the development of this concept. Displayed below is a range of testing for size, functionality, and durability, as well as sketch development, exploring how Concept 1 could potentially come together.

3 Positions of use

Primary and secondary research led me to find that 3 main current training methods provide users with relevant assistance for freestyle snowboard Jib Training. However, each product is quite expensive and unaffordable for students/seasonaires to buy them all. The initial concept is to combine all these methods in 1 product, reducing costs, and making them far more affordable for users.

Benefits of Each Position

Throughout the next process I will be assessing which areas benefit the user the most, and whether the user actually requires all 3 versions of use, as it currently compromises the available simplicty and function of the product having all 3.

Evaluating Part 1

While the current iteration of the design aligns with the intended concept, there remains room for refinement to enhance its user-centricity. During Stage 2, I will undertake a comprehensive reassessment aimed at optimising the product for seamless integration into users' routines, minimizing setup time, and maximizing convenience. Additionally, pivotal to the project's success will be the exploration of app integration to provide added value and guidence to the end-user experience.
